Welcome to 4SM

Hello and welcome back to Class 4SM's page. We have had a great start to the new year and are ready to learn lots of exciting new things!

This year will be another busy one for the children, with lots of exciting trips and learning opportunities already planned. The combination of hard work and the right attitude, will lead to every child achieving their full potential. 

In English, we will start by looking at our beautiful picture book 'Journey' then moving on to Varmints. Through hot-seating and drama, the children will produce their own writing on based upon these texts. 

In Maths, we will be starting on Number and Place value based on a mastery curriculum. We will then move onto the four rules of number - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

This year we have many interesting topics to learn about. There will be a real push on cross-curricular learning which will embed all the skill sets across the curriculum area. Please see our Learning Journey below for more information.

Swimming will be a Tuesday morning - full kits including swimming caps are needed.

P.E will be every Thursday morning, so please ensure that the children come into school wearing the correct P.E kits. 

For homework this year, Learning Logs will continue every other week and it is the perfect way to share the learning with your child. 

Maths and English homework will also be sent out alongside Spellings and Timestable practise. Spellings tests will be each Friday and 100 club (our timestable challenges) will be every Thursday.
