Learning Journeys
We have had a very interesting and informative visit to Liverpool Universtiy. Our day began with a session on what science is, followed by a tour of the walled and roof gardens. Our final workshop was about social enterprise during which, we were required to become ethical detectives.
The day was finished off with a graduation ceremony. It was great fun and very informative.
Holocaust Memorial Day
Fay Healy came to tell us about her experiences in WWII. In 1938, at the age of 11, Fay and 70 of her Jewish classmates went on the Kindertransport to England. This transport was funded by the british government and enabled 10,000 children to escape to a safer country. Fay's brother escaped to Israel and her sister to London while Fay left her parents and travelled to Liverpool alone. She has seen her brother and sister over the years, but sadly never saw her parents again.
Our children were extremely interested to hear Fay's inspiring, but heart-breaking story. Fay still lives in liverpool with her husband and has two chilren and two grandchildren.
50/50 Enterprise Competition
The 50/50 Enterprise Challenge is an exciting opportunity for children to develop their business skills. This competition is all about working with their classmates to create their own business and see how much money they can raise for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Each team is given £50 to start a business and has 50 to make as much money as possible
Once the 50 days are up, each team will submit the money they have raised. This money will help care for people who have lung cancer and help researchers across the country find the best medicine to defeat it.
The team that raises the most money wins £500 for their school.
Liverpool Schools' Parliament
This year, we will be taking part in several events linked to Liverpool Schools' Parliament. School’s Parliament gives an opportunity for the young people of Liverpool to have a voice on matters of concern and to be heard by the people who have influence in the running of the city of Liverpool.
The parliament also provides an opportunity for children to participate in a range of exciting events and activities and empowers pupils to make a real difference within their community.
