St Anne’s Catholic Primary School PE and School Sport Funding
During 2022-2023 at St Anne’s we were allocated £16,799.
Schools have to spend the PE and Sports Premium on improving their provision of PE and sport, but we have the freedom to choose how we do this. We use the premium in a number of different ways, which include hiring a specialist Sports Coach, providing a range of after school clubs and purchasing new equipment for specific sports. A full breakdown of how we plan to spend the money is listed in the statement below.
At St Anne’s we believe that physical education and sport have a vital role to play in the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of children. Physical education and sport are important in giving children the knowledge, understanding and the tools to make informed choices about healthy living and have a positive impact on their own health and well-being.
The physical education curriculum at St Anne’s aims to increase pupils’ self- confidence through an ability to manage themselves successfully in a variety of situations. Children will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports and physical activities which are all carried out in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

The school is keen to provide a wide range of extra – curricular clubs for children throughout the year which are organised by our teaching staff and/or sports coaches.
Children enjoy the opportunity to work with different teachers and have the chance to try many sports such as Netball, Dance, Cross Country, Football and Multi-skills.
Athletics, Handball and Volleyball.
We try to cater for all our children’s needs and ask the children which clubs they would like to see included during the year; we also monitor participation and check uptake against gender, Children’s University Tracker and Pupil Premium children.
We enter competitions and encourage children to participate in team sport. Please refer to the ‘Extra Curricular’ page on our website for more details of the extra curricular activities on offer.
Primary school experiences are pivotal to the children’s future perception of physical activity and we believe that children leave our school equipped to enjoy sport for all its health and social benefits. For those who relish the competitive element, they gain the skills, confidence and relevant experience to succeed at their chosen level and discipline.
St Anne’s is supported by the Local School Sports Partnership which has facilitated training for staff and assisted us in putting together bids for play equipment and enhancing our provision for sport.
